Sometimes I agree with it, sometimes I don’t. But something got to me the other day. In September I (hope to be) starting a course of Nuclear Engineering at university. As a point of interest as much as anything else, I contacted the British Navy to see what would be available for me to do with this degree.
As it turns out, absolutely nothing. If it was a case of the degree being of no practical worth I could understand. But no, it’s because of my genitals. I’m a woman, so not allowed to work on a submarine.
Admittedly, the person whom I was talking to did say that this was likely to change in the near future but really? They won’t allow someone who could be fully qualified, have everything going for them in term of taking the job (not saying I am, but on the hypothetical) on board simply because they’re female?
Seems a tiny bit unfair. And suddenly the whole concept of feminism makes sense again.
the internet angers me cause I see all these amazing pictures
of such wonderful looking places
that I want to travel and adventure to
but i’m just sitting here like
I’ve recently decided to freeze myself to -273℃. My friends think I’ll die, but I’ll be 0K.
